Day 1: Sacred Valley VIP Tour with Maras & Moray (Full-Day)
6:30 AM – Hotel Pickup & Departure to the Sacred Valley
Your adventure begins with pickup from your hotel in Cusco. Our professional guide will welcome you and accompany you on an unforgettable journey through the breathtaking landscapes and cultural treasures of the Sacred Valley of the Incas.
7:30 AM – Chinchero: Living Andean Traditions
Our first stop is Chinchero, a charming Andean village located at 3,762 meters (12,343 feet) above sea level. Here, you’ll visit a Textile Interpretation Center, where local artisans demonstrate centuries-old weaving and natural dyeing techniques that have been passed down through generations.
You’ll also explore the beautiful colonial church, built on Inca foundations and renowned for its remarkable murals and paintings dating from the 16th and 17th centuries.
9:00 AM – Moray: The Inca Agricultural Laboratory
Next, we’ll visit Moray, one of the most fascinating archaeological sites in Peru. Its impressive circular terraces are believed to have served as an agricultural research center, where the Incas experimented with crops under different microclimates. This extraordinary site showcases the advanced engineering and agricultural knowledge of the Inca civilization.
10:30 AM – Maras Salt Mines: The White Gold of the Andes
A short drive away are the spectacular Maras Salt Mines, home to more than 3,000 salt ponds that have been in continuous use since pre-Hispanic times. This unique landscape offers incredible photo opportunities while local families continue harvesting salt using traditional methods preserved for centuries.
12:00 PM – Buffet Lunch in Urubamba
We’ll continue to Urubamba, the heart of the Sacred Valley, where you’ll enjoy a delicious buffet lunch featuring authentic Peruvian and Andean cuisine. This is the perfect opportunity to relax and take in the beautiful surroundings.
2:00 PM – Ollantaytambo: Inca Fortress & Living Town
Our journey continues to Ollantaytambo, one of the most impressive Inca archaeological sites in Peru. Built during the 15th century, this magnificent fortress served as an important military, religious, and administrative center. Explore its remarkable terraces, temples, and narrow cobblestone streets while learning about its fascinating history.
Ollantaytambo is also the ideal departure point for travelers continuing to Machu Picchu Pueblo by train, with departures recommended from 3:00 PM onward.
4:00 PM – Pisac: Archaeology, Culture & Artisan Market
Our final stop is Pisac, famous for its colorful artisan market and impressive archaeological complex. Explore its agricultural terraces, ceremonial temples, and scenic viewpoints overlooking the Sacred Valley.
You’ll also have time to browse a wide variety of handmade textiles, ceramics, silver jewelry, and traditional crafts created by local artisans.
7:00 PM – Return to Cusco
After an unforgettable day filled with history, culture, and spectacular scenery, we’ll return to Cusco, where you’ll be dropped off approximately 2 to 3 blocks from the Plaza de Armas.
Please note that all departure and arrival times are approximate and may vary depending on traffic and the pace of the group.
Optional Connection to Machu Picchu
If you plan to visit Machu Picchu the following day, you can arrange with your travel advisor to end your tour in Ollantaytambo, where you can board the train to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Pueblo).
Please note: If you choose this option, the visit to Pisac will not be included, as the tour concludes in Ollantaytambo at approximately 3:00 PM.
