Terms & Conditions
The following Terms & Conditions apply to the booking of any tour and contain important information. We encourage you to read them carefully, as they constitute a legally binding agreement between THE TIKARY ALVAREZ EXPEDITION and you, the client, regarding the tourism services we provide. This document sets forth the terms governing the commercial relationship between you and THE TIKARY ALVAREZ EXPEDITION
Terms of Service
The tours and travel programs offered by THE TIKARY ALVAREZ EXPEDITION follow pre-established itineraries and are subject to the inclusions and exclusions of the selected service. All services are priced in U.S. dollars (USD), and rates are subject to change without prior notice.
Our Machu Picchu tour programs are subject to ticket availability. Admission tickets to Machu Picchu, issued by the corresponding authorities, grant access only to the Inca Citadel and to the attractions or mountains included in your reservation, such as Machu Picchu Mountain, Huayna Picchu, Huchuy Picchu, Inti Punku (Sun Gate), Inca Bridge, and the Great Cavern, when applicable. The admission ticket does not include transportation or the services of a professional tour guide.
Machu Picchu Admission Ticket
Once the admission ticket has been purchased and confirmed, the travel date cannot be changed. Machu Picchu admission tickets are non-transferable and non-refundable. Any deposit or initial payment made by the client is also non-refundable.
Please note that THE TIKARY ALVAREZ EXPEDITION applies this policy because, under the regulations established by the corresponding authorities, Machu Picchu admission tickets cannot be resold, transferred, or reassigned once they have been purchased and confirmed for the traveler.
Responsibilities
THE TIKARY ALVAREZ EXPEDITION shall not be held liable for any additional expenses arising from adverse weather conditions, natural disasters, strikes, accidents, illness, injuries, or the loss of personal belongings. It is the traveler’s responsibility to obtain comprehensive travel insurance that provides adequate coverage for these unforeseen circumstances.
We reserve the right to modify, postpone, or suspend any itinerary if any of the situations described above occur. Likewise, no refunds will be issued for cancellations or for any unused services.
While we make every reasonable effort to provide a safe and enjoyable travel experience, THE TIKARY ALVAREZ EXPEDITION shall not be liable for any damages, injuries, losses, or additional expenses resulting from delays, regardless of their cause. This policy applies to both persons and property in connection with services provided directly by us or through third-party suppliers, when such events arise directly or indirectly from force majeure or circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
Travel Insurance
Comprehensive travel insurance is strongly recommended, as it typically provides coverage for situations such as the loss of your deposit, trip cancellations, and other unforeseen circumstances. Please note that no refunds will be issued for cancellations or for any unused services. For this reason, we strongly encourage all travelers to purchase comprehensive travel insurance whenever possible.
THE TIKARY ALVAREZ EXPEDITION will take all reasonable measures to provide its services safely and professionally, minimizing risks such as accidents, illness, or the loss of personal belongings. In addition, we work exclusively with qualified and experienced personnel to ensure the highest standard of service and care for our travelers.
Physical Fitness & Medical Conditions
Travelers are required to inform The Tikary Alvarez Expedition of any relevant medical conditions, physical limitations, or allergies prior to the tour. Participants must be in good physical condition to take part in our activities. If you have any concerns regarding your health, we strongly recommend consulting a qualified medical professional before traveling. Travelers over the age of 70 must provide a medical certificate confirming that they are fit to participate in the tour.
Before joining any tour operated by The Tikary Alvarez Expedition, it is the traveler’s responsibility to determine whether the selected itinerary is suitable for their physical condition, abilities, and personal requirements. We strongly encourage you to consult your physician to confirm that you are medically fit to travel and participate in the planned activities, as well as to obtain advice regarding any recommended vaccinations or health precautions. The Tikary Alvarez Expedition does not provide medical advice; therefore, each traveler is solely responsible for assessing the physical demands and potential risks associated with the tour based on their individual health condition and medical history.
The Tikary Alvarez Expedition reserves the right to refuse participation in any of its tours or activities, at any time, if it determines that a participant’s physical or mental condition is not suitable for the trip or may pose a risk to themselves, other travelers, our staff, or third parties.
Privacy Policy
THE TIKARY ALVAREZ EXPEDITION respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information. We do not disclose, share, or transfer your personal data to any public or private entity that is not directly involved in providing the tourism services you have requested.
Payment Methods
To confirm a reservation, we accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Diners Club credit or debit cards only. We do not accept personal checks, telephone payment authorizations, bank transfers, or any other payment methods unless otherwise agreed in writing.
A 5% processing fee will be applied to all payments made by credit or debit card, including both the initial deposit and the remaining balance of your tour.
In Peru, credit and debit card payment systems may still present certain limitations and involve higher processing costs. For this reason, cash payments must be completed at least two (2) days prior to the start of the tour. Whenever possible, we recommend paying in cash, as it helps improve the efficiency of our operations at THE TIKARY ALVAREZ EXPEDITION.
We understand that carrying large amounts of cash may not always be convenient. However, in Peru, many services—including meals, local transportation, and other travel-related expenses—are commonly paid in cash, which also helps travelers avoid additional banking or card processing fees.
Cancellation Policy
By booking a tour with THE TIKARY ALVAREZ EXPEDITION, the client acknowledges, understands, and accepts the following cancellation policy. Cancellation fees are determined according to the amount of notice provided prior to the scheduled departure date and apply regardless of the reason for cancellation.
Customer Cancellation Policy for Cusco Tours (Multi-Day Tours Without a Machu Picchu Admission Ticket)
- 100% Refund: You may cancel your tour and receive a full refund if the cancellation is made more than 48 hours before your scheduled departure time (Peru Time – GMT-5).
- 50% Cancellation Fee: If a confirmed and fully paid tour is canceled within 48 hours prior to the scheduled departure time (Peru Time – GMT-5), a 50% cancellation fee of the total tour cost will apply.
- Tour Date Changes: Tour dates may be changed up to 24 hours before departure for an additional fee of US$10.00 per person, subject to availability.
- No Refunds for Same-Day Cancellations: Tours canceled on the day of departure are non-refundable, and 100% of the total amount paid will be forfeited.
Customer Cancellation Policy for Tours Including a Machu Picchu Admission Ticket
- Reservation Deposit: Once your tour reservation has been confirmed, the initial deposit or down payment is non-refundable.
- Cancellation 60 Days Before Departure: Cancellations made 60 days before the scheduled departure date will incur a 60% cancellation fee based on the total tour price.
- Cancellation 59–30 Days Before Departure: Cancellations made between 59 and 30 days before the scheduled departure date will incur a 70% cancellation fee based on the total tour price.
- Cancellation 29–7 Days Before Departure: Cancellations made between 29 and 7 days before the scheduled departure date will incur an 80% cancellation fee based on the total tour price.
- Cancellation 6 Days to 48 Hours Before Departure: Cancellations made between 6 days and 48 hours prior to departure are non-refundable, and 100% of the total tour price will be forfeited.
